Rust, Databend and the Cloud Warehouse (3) Datafuse Renames to Databend
Databend is an open-source, cloud-native data warehouse built in Rust. It aims to provide lightning-fast elastic scaling and deliver an on-demand, pay-as-you-go Data Cloud experience.

This isn’t really a technical article, but it’s important — we’ve renamed the project.
Reason for the Rename
Datafuse and the open-source project DataFusion have names that sound quite similar in English. For everyone’s future development, we’ve decided to rename the project to: Databend.
Some misunderstandings arose due to cultural differences, but once we talked things through, they were resolved. Thanks to Andy for his understanding and support. We believe both DataFusion and Databend have bright futures.
The Meaning of Databend
The theory of relativity is one of the 20th century’s greatest discoveries. Due to the presence of matter, time and space bend (space-time bend). It made humanity reconsider time and space. We hope that Databend’s arrival will make more people reconsider data and discover greater value.

“Datafuse Labs” was founded in March 2021. It’s the team behind the open-source project Databend. The team has extensive engineering experience in cloud-native databases and is also an active contributor to the database open-source community.
